Decide in bits.
Describe your decision and we'll guide you through it. The more context, options, and constraints you provide, the better.
AI-Guided Questions
Decibe generates targeted A/B trade-off questions tailored to your specific decision, revealing priorities you might not have considered.
Decision Fingerprint
Your answers form a unique binary pattern — a decision fingerprint — that captures your true preferences with mathematical precision.
Reasoned Recommendation
Get a clear recommendation backed by transparent reasoning, confidence scoring, and actionable next steps — not just a coin flip.
How Decibe works
Making decisions is hard. Research shows the average person faces around 35,000 decisions every day, and the most consequential ones — career moves, major purchases, life changes — often stall because of analysis paralysis, conflicting priorities, or too many options.
Decibe breaks through the noise by reducing any decision to a series of simple binary trade-offs. Describe what you're deciding, and our AI generates 5–10 targeted A/B questions that probe the dimensions that actually matter: risk tolerance, time preference, cost sensitivity, emotional weight, and more. Each answer is a single bit of information that narrows the possibility space by half.
The science behind binary decisions
Decibe draws on established research in decision science, preference learning, and behavioral economics. The core insight comes from information theory: a well-chosen binary question is the most efficient way to extract a preference signal. Unlike rating scales or open-ended reflection, forced-choice questions cut through overthinking and tap into genuine preferences.
Studies in response latency analysis show that faster answers correlate with stronger preferences. Decibe measures your response times alongside your choices, building a richer picture of conviction versus uncertainty. The result is a recommendation grounded in what you actually prefer — not what you think you should prefer.
What you can decide
Decibe handles decisions of any kind and scale. Common examples include comparing products (which laptop, phone, or GPU to buy), evaluating career options (which job offer to accept), planning life changes (where to move, whether to go back to school), and resolving everyday dilemmas (what to prioritize this quarter, which project to tackle first).
For multi-option decisions with three or more alternatives, Decibe automatically uses a pairwise comparison mode: it evaluates every pair of options head-to-head and aggregates the results into an overall ranking. This eliminates the cognitive overload of comparing everything at once and produces more consistent, reliable results.
Privacy and data handling
Decibe strips personally identifiable information from all inputs before AI processing. Decision data is stored anonymously and used only to improve question quality over time. No personal data is sold or shared with advertisers. Your decision history stays in your browser's local storage unless you sign in and explicitly choose to sync it.
